Meet Rich!

Richard was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Carolyn and Paul Jolitz, the day after Christmas, 1965. He has one sister, Kay, who also resides in the Commonwealth, and a sister who still lives in Indiana. A majority of his childhood and teen years were spent living in Washington, a small Indiana farming community, where his mother and grandmother taught him the importance of family and integrity.

He attended Washington High School, graduating in 1984. During the late 1985 and early 1986, he completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, as well AIT as a Personnel Records Specialist. During his time in the Reserves, he was also trained as a NBC Defense Specialist. Richard served a total of 8 years in the United States Army Reserve, being Honorably Discharged in 1992.

Richard completed training in 1988 as an Emergency Medical Technician and as a Paramedic in 1990 while residing in Florida. He has dedicated his life to working as part of the EMS community as a Emergency Room Paramedic, Dispatcher, EMT, Communications Manager, Chair Van Driver, and Medflight Communications Technician.

Richard is a 17 year member of the American Legion, an organization he is very proud to be a member of, as was his Uncle Charles Friel. He served on a panel with the Florida Association of Professional EMTs and Paramedics in the early 1990's discussing the role of paramedics in the emergency department of hospitals with nurses. He has also volunteered over the years to help charities such as MDA, Ronald McDonald House, and a fund drive for a florida public television station.
